Brian is perhaps one of the very few film wedding photographer left who captures weddings exclusively in the analog film medium. Being a specialist in contemporary wedding photography, Brian thrives on capturing fleeting moods of emotion and have them documented in the form of wedding photographs.
Isn't that very limiting in the sense that you can't do an instant preview?
First and foremost, the concept of instant preview isn't such a great deal to me. As wedding photogaphers, capturing a special moment is often a matter of split-second and if you miss it, you're not likely to get that very special moment again. Not having the comfort of instant preview helps to instil a sense of self-discipline and in some measure self-confidence too. You have to be absolutely sure with what you're doing. On a more personal note, not knowing what you'll get until you have developed the films in the darkroom has its owns charms and retains that kind of excitement that I feel is important for me as a photographer.
